On Balinese costume, usually male wear safari-shirt and the female wear kebaya. The kebaya costume is also found in some other areas in Indonesia.
When Balinese gamelan musicians perform on stage, this type of custome is usually worn and becomes the group costume.
One day the members of Sekaa Gong Pemaksan Pura Dalem Gede Peliatan have been asked to come to the Pura Dalem. In this temple, a tailor was waiting for them to get their body measurements. This time the group would make their new safari-shirtt!! Horeeee!!
Choosing the color and material of the fabric from sample books, all looked serious. Balinese men, they are serious in deciding this gamelan musician costume; its fabric, its color, the saput and the udeng.
To all musicians (about 30 people), in turn the tailor measured their shoulder, arm length, their chest circumference, waist, and their wrists.
The tailor wrote down it details. A great responsibility!
Two months later, all safari-shirt were already finish. Safari shirt with dark brown fabric had been selected. Wow, good looking! This safari costume was firstly worn in the performance of ngayah during the temple festival Karya Ngusaba Desa Pura Agung Peliatan
